DIGIDREAM Sid Voice Edition aka DIGIDREAM 2 - must boot from SLOT#6 (otherwise it gets stuck on "French Touch Present") - working (great) with an Apple IIc + Mockingboard 4C. - not working with a MegaAudio sound card! The FPGA "6522 emulation" used does not seem to be advanced enough (IFR flags issue here). - not working with Mame: any releases using interrupts with precise timing seem not to work with Mame! - working great with AppleWin! Special greetz to Tom Charlesworth for the work he's done over the last few years to improve Mockingboard/Phasor emulation (and specifically at the 6522 level). - more info about music data: extracted from the original YM file (from Atari ST World), modified (to make the tone consistent with the Apple II/MB at 1MHz), reorganized (to FT "PYM format") and finally repacked (LZH). All these steps involve several python scripts that have not (yet) been made public. Mainly because of @Jansky who makes me feel bad about my pitiful skill in python! (private joke) mini FAQ: + Is this a SID file player for Apple II? - Absolutely not! It is just a player that allows you to play a track with SID effect. Called like this because it allows you to simulate an envelope different from the classic square one from AY/YM. + why is the sound only on one side? - On the Mockingboard, weirdly enough, the three channels of the first AY are all connected to the same output. And the three channels of the second AY on the other output! When only one AY is used (as here), the sound only comes out on one side. + where can I find other YM files with Sid voice effect? - Actually, there haven't been many songs with SID effects. Tao (Frank Seemann, another Atari ST sound wizard) has made several. Search that way! + why are there no more visual effect in the second part of the release? - because Digidream 2 was originally conceived as a musidisk not an Intro and the second part of the track is undoubtedly the most spectacular (the "electric guitar" part is just stunning). In order to make a tribute to this great piece of Mad Max, there is no visual effects to distract the viewer. Just listen and enjoy! + why are there visual effects in the first part if it's a musidisk only? - because it was fun to add some effects, not so great for a real Demo, but still requiring screen synchronization to split modes. And finally, Digidream 2 became more or less an Intro!
